Gospel Singer Dies In Hotel Room After Meeting With Pastor

According to her husband, the late gospel singer was allegedly lodged into the hotel by a Lagos-based Pastor, who she met on Facebook, Apostle Psalm Okpe of the Fresh Oil Ministry.

Her husband, known as Odion, who disclosed the information to newsmen, claimed his late wife met Pastor Okpe on Facebook and after several months of chatting, the pastor invited his wife to perform at his programme which was to be held in Benin, Warri and Asaba.

He also confirmed that he knew all about the arrangement his wife had with the pastor pertaining her accommodation.

“My wife left for Warri on Thursday to perform at the program, and on Friday morning at about 10:00 am, she called to inform me that she would be home soon,” Odion said.

“I did not hear from her again until at about 9:30 pm, when the police used my wife’s phone to call and invite me to the Airport Road police station. I waited for more than two hours at the police station until the police asked me to go home, but I insisted on knowing the whereabouts of my wife.

“The DPO later told me that my wife was picked at an hotel in the GRA and rushed to the Benin Central Hospital where she was confirmed dead.

“I am yet to see the corpse of my wife to know want happened and who is responsible for her death. We have a son that will turn three on June 25,” he explained.

It was later gathered that the said Pastor was arrested by police and is also helping the police with the investigation.

Confirming the death of the woman, the State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike told newsmen: “We are not looking for anyone. We have everything to conclude our investigation.

“The man is married and the woman is married. Not until a post mortem is conducted, we cannot conclude what happened. I have asked the matter to be transferred to the State CID.

“A post mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the cause of death.”
