Gov Bello Lauded For Shunning Marginalisation, Ridding Kogi Of Ghost Workers

Governor Yahaya Bello has received commendation for snubbing marginalisation and yanking off ghost workers from Kogi State’s payroll.

De club 10 Nigeria, a None Governmental Organisation (NGO), equally commended Governor Bello for achieving “visible strides” in the state regardless of political distractions.

The NGO said it was courageous of the governor to uncover the said ghost workers through his comprehensive auditing of civil servants in the state.

The group said the staff auditing had helped remove ghost workers who, until now, were drawing their salaries from the Kogi State treasury.

Alhaji Seidu Yusuf, the NGO’s President, made the commendations in a Communique he signed on Sunday.

Yusuf, however, tasked the Bello-led government to “address the true status of our state including the debt profile he inherited.”

The group also acknowledged that it was the right of Civil Servants to demand for their wages, even though the issues bordering on unpaid workers’ salaries had dented the image of the governor’s administration.

“We observe that despite the rancour in the polity, government has made visible strides in some areas that can not be ignored.

“For the first time in the history of Kogi State, government has transparently embraced the principle of equity, fairness and justice in all government activities. Previous administrations openly displayed the propensity for ethnic marginalisation, not minding that the unity of Kogi State hangs on tripodal relationship between the Igalas, Ebiras and Okuns.

“Government’s efforts to diversify in agriculture and solid minerals’ sectors, in addition to other measures, put in place to increase the internally generated revenue, is worthwhile,” it said.
