Gov Ortom Set To Join PDP…Meets Wike, Others

The speculation that Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom will soon defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may soon be a thing of the past as the governor was seen in the company of some PDP chieftains on Wednesday.

Recall that Governor Ortom had on Tuesday claimed that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) had handed him “red card” and “pushed him outside the pitch”.

The governor was seen today in the company of his Rivers State counterpart, Governor Nyesom Wike and Senators George Sekibo, Adawari Pepple and Hon. Dr Barry Mpigi, all of the PDP.

Ortom was said to have shunned a peace meeting with the leadership of the APC to accompany the PDP chieftains to Ilorin, Kwara State, where they met with Senate President Bukola Saraki ahead of their condolence visit to the leader of the nPDP bloc, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, who had lost his mother.

The APC leadership had summoned Ortom after he made public his readiness to join any political party that approaches him.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, in reaction to Ortom’s defection moves, had said the governor was yet to officially inform them of his resignation from the party.

Oshiomhole had said on Tuesday, “Gov. Ortom had told me severally that he will not leave the APC unless he was pushed out and I know that we have not pushed him out.”
