Governors To Hold ‘Crucial’ Meeting On Pressing National Issues, Tuesday

As part of efforts geared towards a head-on confrontation of the problems beleaguering the states, the 36 state governors under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), on Thursday, announced that it would meet on Tuesday, to discuss pressing national issues.

The NGF Chairman, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara in a statement he personally signed, stated that the meeting will formulate ways and measures of addressing such issues.

Yari also said that some development partners would make presentations regarding proposed reforms and support to states at the meeting.

Yari said: “The meeting will also discuss major issues affecting states of the federation and the wellbeing of the people as well as the forums` peer review initiative.

“The meeting will receive presentations from strategic MDAs and development partners regarding their proposed reforms and supports to states of the federation.

“The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Federal Ministry of Health/World Bank, Nigeria Communication Commission, NCC, and the UK Department for International Development, DFID, are also to make presentations at the meeting.

“The United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA, and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, are also expected to make presentations at the meeting among others.”

The statement advised Secretaries to State Governments to come with their governors to the meeting.
