Grammy 2016 Nominations: Kendrick Lamar Leads The Line As Taylor Swift, Weeknd Dominate

American hip hop recording artist, Kendrick Lamar has received 11 Grammy Award nominations, while Taylor Swift and The Weeknd are both up for seven trophies.

Lamar’s Album “To Pimp a Butterfly” is up for album of the year and best rap album, with hit single, “These Walls” up for best rap collaboration.

Lamar, 28, was also nominated for song of the year, best rap performance, best rap song, best music video for his song “Alright”.

Elsewhere, Taylor Swift picked up nominations for record of the year, album of the year, song of the year, best music video for Bad Blood featuring Kendrick Lamar, best pop solo performance, best pop duo/group performance and best pop vocal album.

The Weeknd was nominated for record of the year and best pop solo performance for “Can’t Feel My Face”, album of the year and best urban contemporary album for “Beauty Behind the Madness”, best R&B performance, best song written for visual media and best R&B song for “Earned It”.

Rapper Drake scored five nominations, including best rap album for “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late”.

Voting for the second round commences next week, ends on January 15, 2016.

The 2016 Grammy Awards will take place on February 15 2016 at Los Angeles’ Staples Centre.
