Griezmann Beats Messi, Ronaldo To Best Player In Spain

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann was named La Liga player of the season for 2015/16 on Monday night at the Spanish football`s annual awards gala in Valencia.
The French international overcame formidable competition from star names Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Atletico’s Diego Simeone won the best coach award while Diego Godin and Jan Oblak won the best defender and best goalkeeper awards respectively.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi, who won the award on six of the previous seven occasions, was selected as the best striker, and Real Madrid’s Luka Modric as the best midfielder.
Luis Saurez was named as La Liga’s World Player of the year – the best non-European player, while Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio was recognised as La Liga’s best emerging player following an impressive spell at Espanyol last season.
Team captains voted for the top players in each position, while a data-analysis system generated the best player award.
