Herdsmen Kill Scores, Wreck Houses In Benue

No fewer than 25 people have been reportedly killed after some suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Anyiin, Mbagber Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The heavily armed men were said to have surrounded the village during the late hours of Thursday night and opened fire on the villagers.

Ati Tekurla, the aide to the state Governor confirmed the attack adding that over 30 houses have been wrecked in Anyiin, with several people missing.

A resident of the area called out on the government saying, “As we speak, over 25 persons have been killed while many are still missing. We are homeless at the moment. The government should come to our rescue.”

The resident further said the gunmen attempted to set ablaze one T.T. Zozo’s Filling Station, though their plan failed.

The operation was reported to have lasted for several hours before security operatives on ground reacted and chased away the intruders after they had killed many residents
