Herdsmen Killings: IGP Removes Plateau Police Commissioner

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has replaced the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Andie Undie, following the Fulani herdsmen attacks that claimed about 100 lives on Saturday.

Recall that the attacks which were launched on the villages of Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp in Barkin Ladi LGA and Daffo, Kuba communities in Bokkos LGA, has sparked a lot of outrage.

IGP Idris, who had on Monday deployed special police units and equipment to the state, ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) in Abuja, Bala Ciroma, to replace CP Undie.

Ciroma’s immediate redeployment as Plateau’s new Police Commissioner was contained in a statement by ASP Tyopev Terna, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer.

According to his profile as stated by the police, Ciroma “graduated from University of Maiduguri in 1988 and joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent police on the 3rd of March 1990. He had served in different places and in various capacities in the Nigerian Police Force.”

He has also previously served as the Head of Operation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
