Herdsmen Killings In Kogi Now Under Control – Gov Bello
Governor Yahaya Bello has said the Fulani herdsmen killings in Kogi State is now under the control of his government.
Bello said this after some herdsmen reportedly killed several persons during attacks on Ogane-Nigu and its environs in Dekina Local Government Area of the state.
The attack came barely a month after the governor was reported to have donated 15 hectares of land in the state for the establishment of a cattle colony for the herders.
Addressing the attacks that took place in the East Senatorial Zone of the state, Governor Bello said through his spokesperson, Kingsley Fanwo, that some security agencies had been deployed to the affected areas and the attacks contained.
The statement read, “The violence has since been contained and brought under control. The incident, however, remains under investigation while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the attackers and bring them to justice.
“Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State will conduct on the spot assessment of the distressed communities today.
“He will meet with Security Chiefs and community leaders after which more information will be forthcoming based on available facts.
“The Governor believes nothing compares to the sanctity of the human life and that must be protected by all who believes in humanity.
“We urge the people of Kogi State to ignore the conflicting casualty and other figures thrown about by different individuals, organisations and sections of the press as they are mostly baseless and speculative.”
