How Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes Prevent Clogged Pores

We paint, contour, and blush our faces with makeup brushes every day, but how often are those brushes being cleaned after the act?

Guessing the answer is never, as we really don’t think brushes need to be cared for. The brushes are used for a long while till we get tired of it and cheat on them by dumping and picking another.

When you use your brushes, bits of makeup, oil, dirt, and even bacteria can get trapped in the bristles. So while it might seem basic, skipping this step can lead to clogged pores and ugly breakouts.

Quality makeup brushes can be expensive, so learning how to properly clean them is one of the best ways to protect your investment.

To avoid giving your bank account a drawback from continuous buying of new makeup brush set, here is an easy way to pamper your brushes;

1. Squeeze a little portion of a gentle shampoo into a deep bowl filled with warm water.

2. Toss in the brushes and swirl them continuously in the mixture.

3. Once you’re sure that all traces of makeup from the brush are gone, place the brush under a running tap. Make sure the pressure of the tap isn’t too much, or the temperature isn’t too hot, as this can damage the bristles of the brushes.

4. Use a cloth to wipe your brush clean, reshaping the bristles as you go.

5. Lay flat to dry.

Treat your makeup brushes, especially the natural bristle ones, the way you would treat your lovely partner because its functionality depends on the way you treat it.
