HP Splits Into Two Entities

American global information technology company, Hewlett Packard (HP) has officially split into two entities, after 75 years of its existence.

The two bodies are HP Enterprise, focusing on software and business services, and HP Inc, which will keep the personal computer and printer operations.

According to the company, the aim of this new initiative is to create a sharper focus for both the enterprise unit and the PC-printer division which has become less lucrative in recent time.

The deal which was engineered by former CEO, Carly Fiorina, splits off the computer arm that was for a time the world’s biggest PC manufacturer following the acquisition of Compaq in 2002.

The new HP Enterprise will be led by company CEO Meg Whitman and the PC business by HP executive Dion Weisler.
