‘Hunted’ Maina Flees As EFCC Seals Ex-Pension Boss’ $2m House

Fugitive ex-chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, has reportedly fled his new office located at the Old Secretariat in Area 1, Abuja.

Maina, who is on the run for alleged misuse of N2bn pension fund, had only recently resumed at the office after he was secretly reinstated into the Federal Civil Service allegedly by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau.

Punch reports that the ex-pension boss went back into hiding after learning that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) launched a new manhunt for him.

His house worth $2 million in Abuja was reportedly sealed on Monday by the EFCC.

“Yes, his properties were marked today. To the best of my knowledge, he has not yet been arrested,” Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC Spokesman, responded to an inquiry by Punch.

It was also learnt that the embattled Pension Boss is being protected by officials of the Department of States Services (DSS).

Maina’s fresh ordeal came after President Muhammadu Buhari ordered his immediate sack.

The WHISTLER recalls that following President Buhari’s order, the Head of Service, Mrs Winifred Oyo Ita, yesterday, submitted a reported on the circumstances that led to Maina’s reinstatement into the Federal Civil Service.
