Nigerian singer-songwriter, and entrepreneur Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, known by his stage name D’banj has dismissed reports of his alleged marriage.

It will be recalled, that reports emerged over the weekend, that the Oliver Twist singer secretly married his alleged half caste lover, 24-year-old Didi Kilglow.

According to the report, the ceremony had D’Banj’s father, Col. Oyebanjo Rtd.; and a few others in attendance.

The harmonica singer, who spoke through his manager, Frank, via a press statement, said he never held any wedding, let alone a secret one, and according to him the rumour is a mere fabrication of the reporter’s imagination.

He however revealed that he had a small event graced by only family and friends.

The statement reads: “D’Banj didn’t do any secret wedding. He had a private event meant for only few family and friends and how that turned to a marriage ceremony is what I don’t know,” Frank said.

“Some people obviously don’t understand simple English and we would not dignify them with response on such false tale.

“I would tell you the truth, I am not married but if I am, nobody would hear about it. It is going to be a very quiet wedding because I am tired of people asking me that question. It is my personal life and it is not going to change my music or brand.

“I am not going to get married just because people want me to, neither would I do it just to enter another phase of my life just like some of my colleagues have done.

“They make it seem as if once you are married you have retired. But that should not be the case. Marriage would not change anything about me and whenever it happens, nobody would hear about it, there would only be speculations.

Recall, that in December 2015, D’banj had disclosed to journalists that his marriage was imminent, saying: “I’m going to marry very soon and you will get to meet her.”

Back in April 2016, while speaking in an interview with MTV Base, he said: “I am tired of people asking me that question. That’s my personal life and its not going to change my music.

“I’m not trying to get married to enter another phase of my life the way they have classified my other colleagues. When you want to marry they just put it like you want to retire. No, its not going to change anything.

“If I marry, you would not hear about it. My wife is not looking for fame. The fame I have is already enough.”
