I Don’t Belong To The Other Room, Hilda Dokubo Takes Jab At Buhari

Veteran Nigerian film actress and youth advocate, Hilda Dokubo has reacted to comment by President Muhammadu Buhari that his wife belongs in his kitchen and the other room.

Buhari, in reaction to his wife Aisha who criticized his appointments in an interview on BBC, said she belongs in his kitchen, his living room and ‘the other room and not in politics.

In a video clip on her Instagram page, Mrs. Dokubo who strongly disagreed with the president said she doesn’t belong to any part of her home, indicating she deserves some rights as a woman and human being.

She said: “I do not belong to the kitchen. I go to the kitchen to fix food for my family and myself; we eat there sometimes. I don’t belong there.

“I do not belong to the bedroom either. I sleep there, it is my rest place. My things are there but I don’t belong there.

“I do not belong to the sitting room, it’s a lounging place; I rest there and I watch television there.

“I do not belong to the other room, because I don’t know where the other room is in my house, except like this other room sounds like the toilet. I cannot belong to the toilet.

Following Buhari’s response to his wife, many concerned Nigerians have taken to the social media to criticize the President.

Dokubo once served as a Special Adviser on Youth Affairs to the former governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili in 2003.
