Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has said on Sunday in Enugu that he joined politics primarily to address marginalization of the Igbo race.

Ekweremadu, who said this while addressing leaders of Udi North forum, hailed Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his development strides in the state.

Recalling his first achievement as a Senator, Ekweremadu said he was able to alleviate some of the sufferings of the people of Nze in Udi North by attracting a water project in the area.

He further revealed that he had recently ordered water drilling machines from Turkey which will be used to provide boreholes in Enugu West communities.

The Deputy Senate President said he sees the impact of Igbo marginalisation in Udi North, promising that he and Governor Ugwuanyi will find a lasting solution to their problems.

“I joined Politics to address the issue of marginalization by influencing government policies which will help in providing the needs of the people,” said the Deputy Senate President.

“I can see and feel marginalisation in Udi North and my vision is to change the fortunes of the people of the area for good, that’s why most of our projects in the areas of water, roads, and electricity are sited in places where the people can not help themselves,” he said.
