I May Be The African Footballer of The Year – Ahmed Musa

Just a day after he was shortlisted in the 37-man list for this year’s CAF African Footballer of the Year award, Super Eagles skipper, Ahmed Musa believes he or team-mate Vincent Enyeama can claim the prize.

Speaking to AfricanFootball.com, the 22 year old said; “I believe either myself or Vincent Enyeama can win the award this time around. We deserve the nomination and I think we are good enough to win it for Nigeria.

“I am happy to be nominated for the African Footballer of the Year award again. It’s a good thing when one gets such recognition because Africa is blessed with lots of good players.”

Musa and Enyeama are the only two Nigerian footballers that made the 37-man shortlist for the prize, it is the third straight year the CSKA Moscow forward has been nominated.

Nigeria’s 1996 Olympics hero, Kanu Nwankwo is the last Nigerian to have won the award in 1999.
