Chairman and owner of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, on Thursday was slammed a 10-match ban from all Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) venues following an allegation he assaulted Heartland FC’s goalkeeper.
The billionaire mogul was also fined N2.5 million by the League Management Company (LMC).
The League body took the decision after a new video evidence showed the billionaire encroaching the field of play in his club’s match against Heartland on March 23 and further assaulted the shot-stopper of the Owerri based club Ebele Obi.
Ubah was then charged for breach of Rule C1 of the NPFL Rules and Framework for an offence of misconduct, in that immediately after the match he encroached on the field of play and assaulted Obi while his personal security aides further assaulted the player.
“Following the review of new video evidence of the incident that occurred immediately after the Match Day 8 fixture in Nnewi between FC IfeanyiUbah and Heartland of Owerri, the League Management Company (LMC) has issued fresh charges against the Proprietor of FC IfeanyiUbah, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah and handed him a fine of N2, 500, 000 in addition to ten match ban from all Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) venues,” the LMC statement read.
Ubah was given until 5pm on Saturday, April 2 to appeal his ban.
LMC further banned guests and club officials from coming to match venue with self-procured security aides.
