Manchester City youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho, is now the highest-earning Nigerian player in the Premier League, after agreeing a new deal worth £85,000-per-week with the English club.

The 19-year-old has now knocked out Super Eagles captain, Mikel John Obi, from the top, who earns £70,000 a week at Chelsea. Mikel has been the biggest earner from Nigeria for many years.

Iheanacho earlier this month, signed a new two-year contract extension to remain at the Etihad Stadium until 2021, saying afterwards that his new contract will “change the lives of his family”.

He earned less than 18,000 pounds-a-week when he first joined Manchester City.

Victor Moses is paid £50,000 a week at Stamford Bridge, while Odion Ighalo is said to be picking up 25,000 a week after extending his contract with Watford.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that Iheanacho’s new agents negotiated this bumper deal, even though they are still locked in an ownership tussle with the player’s former representatives, who are based in the United States.
