In Bayelsa: Police Searches For Tompolo

The Nigerian police force have deployed officers in Bayelsa state to arrest the former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, ordered the Bayelsa state police command to carry out Tompolo’s arrest in compliance with the order of the Federal High Court, Lagos.

Recall that Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court had ordered Tompolo’s arrest for his failure to appear before him to answer allegations of N45.9bn fraud.

Tompolo is facing a 40-count charge alongside the former Director General of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi, over alleged diversion of N45.9 billion in the execution of contracts.

Speaking at Ekiti State Police headquarters during a tour of the Command, Arase said “We are looking for Tompolo and my men are on his trail. We will arrest him anywhere we sight him.”
