Independence Day: FG Declares Thursday, October 1st As Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, October 1, 2015, as public holiday to mark the nation’s 55th Independence celebration.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, made the declaration on behalf of the FG in a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press, Yusuf Isiaka, on Monday.

Magaji congratulated Nigerians at home and in diaspora, for their support to President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts towards building a peaceful, united and virile nation.

He urged them to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for peace and unity across the country.
