INEC Fixes March 5 For Abia Rerun Elections

*Releases Dates For Edo, Ondo Guber

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Thursday announced that the re-run elections in Abia State will hold on March 5, 2016.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sylvester Ezeani, said the re-run election would take place in seven state constituency and one senatorial district- Arochukwu, Ikwuano, Isialangwa South, Aba North, Osisioma and Umunneochi.

While noting that card readers and incidence form would be used during the voting exercise, Ezeani called on the political party agents to conduct themselves properly during the exercise.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Emma Nwaka, noted that the party does not believe in violence, but in working hard to convince the Abia electorates on the need to vote for them.

He expressed confidence that the PDP candidates in the re-run will emerge victorious, adding that anyone with intentions to ferment trouble should desist from such act.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that INEC has released dates for the conduct of governorship elections in both Edo and Ondo States.

According to The Punch, INEC’s Deputy Director in charge of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr. Nick Dazang said that the governorship election would hold on September 10 in Edo State, and Ondo would take its turn on November 26, 2016.
