Instagram Might Soon Allow You Post 1 hour Long Video

New Feature Will Allow Longer Vertical Videos

Facebook owned photo and video-sharing social networking service, Instagram is considering removing the restriction on the length of video that can be posted by users on the platform.

Reports on The Wall street Journal suggest that the social network is mulling the idea of long length video of up to an hour. This move might be partly due to the fact that content creators like music artists who wish to posts their work on Instagram are limited to posting only a short snippet with a message in the description directing fans to a Youtube or any other link on their bio to watch the full length video.

The new feature is reported to focus on vertical video just like the Instagram stories, which allows the posting of videos with dimension that fits a user screen.

Instagram stories, launched about two years ago has been a huge success, with an estimated 300 million daily users.

Currently, videos posted on Instagram stories are limited to 15′ seconds while videos posted on the main feed have a runtime limit of 60′ seconds.

The longer length video will allow instagram knock down on the amount of traffic sent to Youtube and other video sharing services from it’s platform, while also aligning with Facebook’s move to to expand its digital advertising footprint by focusing more on video which attracts higher advert rates.
