Instagram Stories Set To Roll Out Globally Next Week

Instagram “Live Stories” will be rolling out to users with version 10.0 and above all over the world next week, the photo and video sharing application said on Wednesday.

The live video feature was announced in November 2016, and tested for users in the United States, but will now be available for everyone.

The Live video feature will work in the same way as Facebook Live, and will allow users to go live for its followers to see real-time feed via the social app.

The Facebook-owned platform promised users a new kind of live streaming experience not found in most streaming platforms.

“Today we’re excited to share that live video on Instagram Stories — a new way to connect with your friends and followers right now — will be rolling out to our entire global community over the next week,” Instagram announced on their blog post.

To begin a live video a user has to swipe right from the feed. Once the story opens, they need to select the option for Start Live Video in the camera.

A single video can have a maximum duration of an hour. Once a user has finished watching the video, the live story disappears from the app.

There’s also an option to comment on the live video, and the user can even pin it to the top for everyone to see. The user can alternatively even disable comments if need be. You can switch cameras from rear to front mid-recording, and can even see the time since you started recording by tapping on the Live button on the top-left edge.

The service also added a new section in Explore called ‘Top Live’ that shows you all the people that are live currently with the most popular ones getting the top spot.

Instagram currently has 150 million users across the globe.
