Jamie Vardy Loses Red Card Appeal, Suspended Till 2017

Leicester City striker, Jamie Vardy will be out of action till the new year, after he lost an appeal against a red card he received in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Stoke City.

The England forward was dismissed by Craig Dawson after 28 minutes at the bet365 Stadium for a challenge on Mame Biram Diouf.

Leicester lodged an appeal but an FA disciplinary panel upheld the decision of referee Craig Pawson on Tuesday.

An FA statement read: “Jamie Vardy will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after his wrongful dismissal claim was rejected, following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.

“The Leicester City striker was sent off for serious foul play during the game at Stoke City on Saturday 17 December 2016.”

The 29-year-old will now serve a three-game ban, meaning he will miss Premier League games against Everton, West Ham and Middlesbrough.

The verdict comes as a big blow to The Foxes, who have managed only four of their opening 17 games of the campaign and are just three points above the Premier League relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Leicester City chairman, Srivaddhanaprabha slammed the FA’s ‘unfair’decision, saying it made him feel “dispirit from football”.

“I am so sorry for the unfair judgement of referee to Vardy and more sorry that our appeal was rejected,” he said. “This kind of judgement distort the charming (sic) of English Premier.

“I spend a lot of time and effort to make my beloved LCFC a success, but this incident made me feel dispirit from football.

“Anyway, we move on now and it’s time that we need to be unity together and cheer up (louder than before) to our team no matter what happen, we are fearless and never quit!”

Claudio Ranieri’s side face Everton on Boxing Day before New Year’s Eve meeting with West Ham.
