Jonathan Slams ‘Uncoordinated, Rudderless’ Buhari Govt For Linking Him With Maina’s Recall

Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has described as “uncoordinated and rudderless”, the President Muhammadu Buhari administration for trying to link him with the contentious reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina into the Federal Civil Service.

Jonathan, in a statement by his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, expressed embarrassment that the Buhari-led government, which allegedly orchestrated Maina’s return, could be looking for whom to hang its misdeeds on.

President Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu, had in an earlier statement claimed that top officials in Jonathan’s regime benefit from the over N2 billion pension fund stolen by Maina.

“Top officials in the PDP government, from sectoral heads, to those charged with responsibility for law and order received some of these billions of naira from Maina.

“We have all the transaction records and these are matters that the EFCC has been pursuing to ensure that they all have their day in court,” Shehu had said.

But in a swift reaction, Jonathan’s spokesperson, Eze, urged the Buhari government to stop insulting Nigerians by its baseless insinuation.

“Are they saying it is President Jonathan that flew him back into Nigeria and promoted him in two levels ahead of where he was as at 2013 when he fled the from civil service?” queried Jonathan’s spokesperson.

“They should stop insulting Nigerians or seeing them as fools,” Mr. Eze said.

Mr. Shehu had claimed that the presidency has financial records to show how the previous government benefited from Maina’s loot.

But Eze responded by saying, “There’s no need to warn that they will bring evidence out or that everything will be revealed on a later date.”

“They should present the evidence to Nigerians now.

“The Maina family spoke about how he returned to the country and they made it very clear that Buhari officials were the ones that orchestrated his return,” added Jonathan’s spokesperson.
