Kanu Nwankwo Set To Unseat Buhari In 2019

Kanu Nwankwo, a retired Nigerian Super Eagles forward player has disclosed his intentions to run for the presidential seat as Nigeria’s fifth president in the upcoming 2019 election.

Nwankwo, in an interview with Goal.com, stated that his inspiration came from his colleague George Weah who was elected president of Liberia in the 2017 election.

“George Weah’s victory in Liberia is a pointer that this dream is very realistic with you all on my side,” he said.

He further said that he is as passionate about the future of Nigeria as the happiness of the populace is crucial to him.

“My presence here today is about the future of our country and the happiness of our people.

“The last 18 years of leadership has witnessed a decline in all critical sectors of life in Nigeria, plus general insecurity in the land.

“Also, I’ll do all it takes to wrestle corruption which has become blatant and widespread. The rest of the world looks at Nigeria as the home of corruption,” Kanu, who also had a successful career in Europe added.

The super eagle’s one-time captain said he is set to transform Nigeria to a better place as he will do things differently and restore honour and integrity to public service by keeping the best.

“If I get your mandate, I promise to do things differently and restore honour and integrity to public service by keeping the best and attracting the best’’, he said.

The 41-year-old was a member of the Nigerian national team and later captained the Eagles for 16 years from 1994 until 2010.
