Kidnapped Police DPO, Four Others Rescued

The Nigerian Force has revealed that a divisional police officer who was kidnapped in Niger State has been rescued.

The DPO, Aliyu Amos, was rescued by police special forces at about 6:00 p.m. Thursday night.

Amos, a superintendent of police and DPO of Sarki Pawa Divisional Headquarters in Niger State, was kidnapped when his car ran into a blockade mounted by the gunmen on Sunday morning, on their way from Minna to Sarkin Pawa, near Kunbwada community.

Police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, who revealed the rescue said the DPO was rescued alongside four others whose identities are yet to be made public.

CSP Moshood said, “The rescue of Kidnapped DPO in Niger state occurred on Thursday 19 October 2017.

“At about 5:50pm , the Divisional Police Officer, Sarki-Pawa Police station, Superintendent of Police Aliyu Amos, his orderly and 4 others kidnapped, were rescued unhurt by police special Forces around Kabula Forest Sarki Pawa, Niger state in compliance with IGP directive to all CP’s 2 days ago.

“Some arrests have been made and investigation is in progress.”

Recall that the Inspector-General Ibrahim Idris had decried the incessant abduction of police officers, describing it as “annoying” and “embarrassing.”
