Lacazette Brace Gives Arsenal Much-Needed Win Over West Brom

Arsenal’s record signing Alexandre Lacazette netted twice as the Gunners defeated West Brom 2-0 in the English Premier League on Monday night.

A goal apiece in each half by the Frenchman secured a deserved victory for Arsene Wenger’s side, as they moved up to seventh in the league.

The France striker headed into an open net in the 20th minute after West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster tipped Alexis Sanchez’s free-kick onto the crossbar.

West Brom should have had a penalty before Lacazette’s opener, when Shkodran Mustafi brought down Jay Rodriguez in the box, but a foul was not given by referee Bobby Madley.

The Baggies put in a good performance in the first half and nearly levelled the scoreline from a Rodriguez header in the 38th minute, but a last-ditch clearance by Nacho Monreal ensured the Gunners had the advantage going into the break.

Arsenal were awarded a controversial penalty in the 66th minute, when Allam Nyom shoved off Aaron Ramsey close to the byeline.

Lacazette stepped up and slotted calmly to the right corner of the post, to give Arsenal a two-goal cushion to the cheer of the home fans at the Emirates Stadium.
