Dickson made the announcement while declaring open a two-day meeting of the Joint National Public Service Negotiation Council in Yenagoa.

According to him, the bill when passed will make it compulsory for anyone who intends to teach in the state to undergo the process as part of their qualifications.

“A bill will be forwarded to the State House of Assembly to make it compulsory for teachers at the primary and secondary school levels to undergo some forms of assessment as part of their qualifications to teach in the state,” the governor was quoted as saying in a statement by his media aide, Francis Agbo.

It will be recalled that few weeks back the Kaduna state government announced plans to sack 22,000 teachers that failed to pass an assessment test calculated to measure their proficiency and basic skills.
