Maina: Memo From Interior Ministry Forged, Document Shows

A document used in recalling disgraced pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, by the Ministry of Interior, THE WHISTLER has learnt was forged.

Investigation carried out by The WHISTLER indicates that Abdurahaman Dambazau’s ministry consciously altered a letter it received from the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) to read as if the initial memo was generated from the Office of the Head of Service.

The forged memo came without the usual “initials” showing where it was originated from; “FC” rather it read, “Ref No/4029.82/Vol III/179”.

A source told THE WHISTLER that, “the normal tradition in the civil service is for all official memos or documents to have the ministry, parastatal, agency’s initial. But if you look at the memo which they tried referencing the Head of Service, it had no point of origin rather it simply reads “Ref No” instead of to read “Ref No: FCSC.”

According to the source, those behind the recall of the embattled former pension boss had anticipated their move and were out to scapegoat other officials other than themselves.

Contrary to earlier reports, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, facilitated the recall, in her response to a query issued her over the issue by President Muhammadu Buhari, the HoS stated she did not play any part in the reinstatement, rather she had advised against Maina’s recall, but she was overruled.
