Mesut Ozil Signs New Long-Term Arsenal Contract

German football star, Mesut Ozil ended speculation over his future at Arsenal by agreeing on a new three-year deal with the Premier League giants on Thursday.

The deal is worth around £350,000 before tax — or £230,000 a week net which more than doubles Ozil’s previous salary and makes the 29-year-old by far the highest paid player in the club’s history.

Ozil, whose previous contract was set to expire in June, has been in sparkling form this season, as he has netted four goals, claiming seven assists and creating 70 chances in 21 appearances in all competitions.

“It’s been one of the most important decisions of my footballing career and that’s why I had to think hard and talk with everyone who’s important to me,” the German posted on his Instagram account.

“Good things take time! In the end, I let my heart decide. As I always said, I feel at home here and I’m highly motivated to achieve big things in the next few years.”
