Metuh Urges Nigerians To Support IDPs

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, on Friday, called on political leaders and members of the business community to assist in addressing the plight of the Internally Displaced Persons and other less privileged in the country.

The PDP spokesman who made this appeal during a visit to the IDPs camp in Wassa, Abuja, to mark his 5oth birthday anniversary, said that the deplorable condition he met at the IDPs camp called for concern.

He therefore urged well-meaning Nigerians to step in and help the displaced occupants of the camp.

Deeply touched by their condition, especially the absence of basic amenities like drinking water, Metuh was prompted to pledge to collaborate with relevant government agencies to provide potable water in the camp.

He shared meals, distributed assorted food items and handed over loads of various food items, including grains, beverages and drinks to them.

The overjoyed IDPs sang and cut the birthday cake with the PDP spokesman.

It is estimated that over 1.5 million people are living in internal displacement where they lack appropriate shelter, food, water, sanitation, healthcare, child protection and educational opportunities.
