Microsoft To Stop Sale of Windows 7&8

American multinational technology company, Microsoft Corporation has given its PC partners a one year ultimatum to sell computers carrying Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 operating systems installed in them.

The company gave its partners up until October 31, 2016, after which companies will have no choice but to use Windows 10, if they want to use Microsoft’s software.

Interestingly enough, the end-of-sales date for the three-year-old operating system, Windows 8, is set for June 30, 2016.

The Company usually sets the end-of-sales date of a Windows version two years after the release of the version that immediately succeeds it. But the company had to make an exception after the release of Windows 8 due to poor demand of the operating system.

So, if you buy a new PC after July 29th, be absolutely sure you select the Windows 10 option as microsoft has stated that it will allow anyone with a genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8 copy to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

Meanwhile, Windows 10 now powers 8 percent of all computers in the world, however, Windows 7 continues to dominate the chart with 55.71 percent.
