Mimiko Congratulates Ondo Governor-Elect Akeredolu

Following the declaration of Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, as the Ondo State Governor elect after Saturday’s gubernatorial election, incumbent governor, Olusegun Mimiko has sent a congratulatory message to his successor.

Mimiko made this known in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Eni Akinsola, in the state capital, Akure, on Monday.

Mr. Akeredolu was on Sunday declared the winner of the Ondo State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with 244,842 votes, winning 14 of the 18 local governments, ahead of PDP candidate Eyitayo Jegede, who won 2 and AD Gubernatorial candidate Chief Olusola Oke, who also clinched 2 local governments.

“It behoves on me as Governor of Ondo State to congratulate the Governor-elect, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and wish him success in the challenging task of governing our dear state,” Mimiko said.

“It is incumbent upon me as Governor to facilitate smooth transition between my government and the incoming one. I will, to this end, provide the ambience for a smooth and seamless transition process.”

The governor appreciated the people of Ondo, promising to provide the right leadership before he hands over office to Akeredolu next year.

“I use this medium to express my sincere appreciation to all our citizens for the very peaceful manner in which they conducted themselves throughout the election period.

“I will not waiver in providing needed leadership to our dear state till the last day of my term.”

The people to continue to sustain the peace enjoyed across the state for the past seven years, assuring them that he will always be there for them as occasion demands.
