Mugabe Orders Arrest Of Zimbabwean Olympic Team

Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe, has ordered the arrest and detention of all Zimbabwean Olympic Team members as they arrived the Harare International Airport from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The embattled Mugabe, gave the directive to the Commissioner General of Zimbabwe Police Republic, Augustine Chihuri, noting that all 31 athletes that represented the country at the just concluded Rio Olympic Games, should be apprehended and detained immediately they arrive the country.
The southern Africa country came out of the Rio Olympics without winning any medal, the closes any of its athletes came to winning a contest was at the 8th position.

The infuriated Mugabe who was disappointed with the outing, also described members of the team as rats, before ordering their arrest.
He noted that the money spent in the Olympic team would have been invested in the country to amenities and build schools.
“We have wasted the country’s money on these rats we call athletes. If you are not ready to sacrifice and win even copper or brass medals (referring the 4th and 5th positions) as our neighbors Botswana did, then why do you go to waste our money” he said.
”If we needed people to just go to Brazil to sing our national anthem and hoist our flag, we would have sent some of the beautiful girls and handsome guys from University of Zimbabwe to represent us.

“This situation is like an impotent man who is married to five women, what is the essence? I will make sure we share the cost across board for all of them to pay back to government chest even if it takes 10 years to recoup, now it turns out to be a soft loan we have given them to go and visit Brazil as tourist, they are useless” he concluded.
Meanwhile, anti-Mugabe protest from opposition party in the country’s capital Harare has turned violent as police used tear gas, water cannons and batons to disperse the crowd.
More than 200 supporters, mostly youths, of the main opposition party, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), took to the streets to protest against police brutality.
The demonstrators had marched through the streets of the capital denouncing the police for beating up protesters and called on President Robert Mugabe to step down, accusing him of running a dictatorship.
Some protesters threw back tear gas canisters, as well as rocks, towards the police, who fired more tear gas outside the MDC offices.
