Netflix Adds Support for HDR Contents on Windows 10

Netflix will be adding support for High Dynamic Range (HDR)encoded contents on its Windows app and Microsoft Edge Browser, the American entertainment company has announced.

Although the announcement is a welcomed development for users with premium plans, getting Netflix HDR10 encoded content on Windows will also require a capable Windows 10 computer running on Intel 7th generation and higher CPUs

The announcement on Netflix Tech Blog also promised to extend the HDR and 4K features to other browsers.

In the PC world, it is still early days for premium video features like 4K and HDR. As engineers, we look forward to bringing these features and more to additional browser platforms. – The statement read.

Expect these enhancements to the Netflix app and Browser Edge Browser to be available in Windows 10 Fall creators Update. We also hope that as manufacturers release new HDR capable monitors, there will continue to be a surge in support of HDR contents and games in PC and mobile screens.
