NFF Should Do ‘Everything They Can’ To Bring Enyeama Back – Kanu Nwankwo

It is no news that the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, is currently having issues over who will man its goal post.

The first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, who plays for a European club side, was recently diagnosed with acute Leukemia and Daniel Akpeyi the second choice is said to be unfit after his role in the Super Eagle loss 2-0 to South Africa last month.

Other goalkeepers like the home based Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Alampasu are not the favorites of the eagles coach, Gernot Rohr.

In light of the situation, Kanu Nwankwo, the former super eagles player and captain has called on the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF to do everything possible to bring the Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama back on board.

Kanu further said he is ready to convince Enyeama to come back and help the super eagles qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Enyeama, who plays as a goalkeeper for the French Club side Lille, played for the national team from 2002-2015.

He captained the team from 2013, until his retirement. His retirement was as a result of the misunderstanding he had with the former eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh.

Kanu believes that Enyeama still has the required skills to man the eagles goal post. He said, “As it is now we need Vincent badly. In my opinion, Enyeama should come back immediately. He is one of the best players in Africa, and one of the best in the world. Let the federation look into it and do everything they can to bring him back.

“If Enyeama says he doesn’t want to come, people like us can talk to him, the federation too can talk to him. If a lot of people talk to him, I’m sure that definitely he will change his mind,” he said.

Coach Gernot Rohr was also advised by the former captain to extend his invitation to Daniel Aiyenugba, who many believe is a suitable replacement for Enyeama if he refuses to come back to eagles ahead of their upcoming qualifier matches.
