NHIS Crisis Deepens As Union Uncover Plans By Suspended ES To Cause Mayhem On Monday

The crisis in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) seems to have deepened as the joint in house unions of the scheme have alleged of a plot by the suspended Executive Secretary, Dr. Usman Yusuf, to cause havoc when work resumes on Monday/

In a terse statement by Achir Chris on behalf of the joint unions, all staffers of the NHIS are mandated to wear their ID cards boldly, and if possible adorn the union’s regalia for identification.

Chris alleged that the move is based on “credible information that Dr Usman Yusuf, the suspended executive secretary of NHIS is mobilizing some disgruntled elements to come and cause chaos and crisis at the head office in Utako on Monday.”

According to him, “in view of this, you are hereby urged to be vigilant, come with your identity card and if possible be on our union regalia as a mark of identity in solidarity with the union to protect the scheme against any hired intruders; let’s guide and protect the scheme jealously because we don’t have any other place apart from NHIS. Remember, Soja Go, Soja Come Barack remains. Aluta continua, Victoria Ascerta.”

The scheme ran into trouble when the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole suspended the NHIS boss, Dr. Yusuf, but the latter refused to honour the suspension arguing in a reply that only the president can order for his suspension from office.
