President Muhammadu Buhari`s recall of the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has been greeted with protest.
The NHIS Workers took to the streets of Utako in Abuja on Thursday to ask President Buhari to allow justice take its course by letting Mr Yusuf come out clean in his N919 million corruption probe before reinstating him.
Premium Times quoted Razaq Omomeji, chairman of the NHIS chapter of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, as asking the president to immediately reverse the Executive Secretary’s recall.
“The man has a case in court. We are calling on president Muhammadu Buhari to revisit allegations against Mr. Yusuf and investigate this matter before reinstating him.
“EFCC is investigating him and president Buhari should allow the investigation before recalling him”, said Omomeji.
Meanwhile, Mr Yusuf was said to have resumed duty as the Scheme’s chief today (Thursday) following the announcement of his recall by President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, on Tuesday.
