Niger Govt To Spend N1bn On Suleja General Hospital Renovation

The Niger Government says it will spend N1 billion on the renovation of Suleja General Hospital after decades of neglect to boost effective healthcare service delivery in the area.

Gov. Abubakar Bello of Niger disclosed this when he received a delegation from Suleja led by Rep. Abubakar Lado (APC-Suleja/Tafa/Gurara) in Minna on Friday.

Bello said that the decision to renovate the health facility was in compliance with his administration’s restoration agenda following the infrastructural decay in the hospital.

“The hospital has been neglected for years and this has led to gross infrastructural decay; we have resolved to carry out total renovation of the hospital to enable it meet the health needs of our people,” he said.

According to him, the renovation will involve the rehabilitation of wards, consulting rooms, installation of modern medical equipment, laboratory facilities, doctors and nurses’ quarters.

The governor also announced plans by government to tackle the issue of water challenges facing residents of the area.

Besides, Bello the ongoing water works repairs in Minna was almost completed and reticulation network within Suleja and neighboring towns would commence immediately to address the scarcity of water supply in the area.

Earlier, Lado pledged continued support for the present administration and commended government effort in ensuring even distribution of dividends of democracy across the state.
