The Nigeria Police has arrested five of the eight suspects, who kidnapped the former Secretary to the Federal Government of Federation (SFG) and Finance Minister, Chief Olu Falae.
One of the suspected abductors was said to have been arrested with an unspecified amount of the N5 million ransom, paid by the former minister to aid his release.
This is coming about two weeks after the elder statesman was released in Akure, Ondo State capital in Nigeria’s south-western region.
According to Vanguard, the six abductors were apprehended at separate locations in Niger, Ondo and Ekiti states, by a team of Special Intelligence Squad, deployed by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Solomon Arase.
It was learnt that the suspects were nabbed by the operatives, following an intelligence report, who combed several locations in Ondo, Ekiti and Niger States.
You will recall that the former SGF was kidnapped from his farm in Ondo State on the 21st of September, with his abductors demanding for a ransom of N100 million, which was later reduced to N90 million.
Following the kidnap, President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the IGP and other security agencies to take all necessary action to ensure that the former SGF was rescued from the abductors.
