Nigerians have taken to social media to express their views on the long awaited debut of the internationally acclaimed reality singing competition, The Voice Nigeria (TVN).

The show, which made its debut on Sunday April 10, was hosted by Nigerian radio and television on air personality, Ik Osakioduwa and MTV Base Africa’s Stephanie Coker.

The premiere, which kicked off with a joint performance by the coaches – 2Baba Idibia, Waje, Patoranking and Timi Dakolo – earned accolades from Nigerians at home and abroad.

Although some Nigerians were quick to find faults in the show, others said that despite the hard circumstances facing the country, it was relieving to have The Voice launched in Nigeria.
