For Nigerians’ Sake, Buhari Should Lead Beyond 2019 – Bello

Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello has said it will be in the interest of Nigerians if President Muhammadu Buhari leads Nigeria beyond 2019.

Speaking in a statement by his spokesperson, Kingsley Fanwo, Bello said Buhari’s achievements despite the country’s exposure to economic woes have been “magical and laudable”.

The governor expressed optimism that the 2019 presidential election would be a walkover for Buhari as Nigerians have continued to share aims with the president.

Bello said, “Nigerians have continued to show their solidarity with the President. He will easily win again in 2019″, adding that Buhari’s re-election will in “the best interest of Nigerians”.

“We were here during the previous administration, and we saw what our country went through”, the statement read.

“Revelations in courts and from anti-graft agencies have shown us how bad the country was exposed to economic woes.

“President Muhammadu Buhari came and has continued to do his best to sanitise the country and relaunch it on the map of international reckoning.

“It takes more time to rebuild than to destroy. For our President to have achieved this much is magical and laudable.

“In the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians, President Buhari should continue to lead our country beyond 2019,” he said.

Recall that the issue of whether or not President Buhari deserves a second term in office has been of serious national debate of late.

The call for Buhari’s retirement in 2019 intensified a few weeks ago when former president Olusegun Obasanjo asked the president no to “over-push his luck nor over-tax the patience and tolerance for him”.

Just last Sunday, former military Head-of-State, Ibrahim Babaginda, urged the citizens to ensure the president is voted out in the next general elections.
