Former Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama, will not be returning to the Super Eagles, Head Coach Salisu Yusuf said on Thursday.

Speaking with journalists on the team’s preparation ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifying game against the Chipolopolo of Zambia in Ndola, Yusuf confirmed that Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, spoke to the Lille of France goalkeeper to come out of retirement and join the team.

Yusuf however noted that the shot stopper isn’t interested in coming back to the team.

“The truth is that the technical adviser has actually discussed with Enyeama, but the truth is that Enyeama has made it clear that he is not ready to return to the Super Eagles again.’ Yusuf told reporters on Thursday.

“The positive thing is that we have a good relationship with Enyeama and we respect his decision but when the time comes if he makes up his mind, we’ll welcome him.”

Recall that Enyeama quit the Super Eagles in 2015 following an altercation with former coach Sunday Oliseh.

On the Super Eagles quest to qualify to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Yusuf explained that it will be tough but was upbeat that the Eagles will make it from their group and pick the ticket to the prestigious event.

According to him with the right condition and commitment the Super Eagles would be in Russia.

“Though I know that it’s going to be difficult, but I can tell you Nigeria will be in Russia come 2018. We will scale through because if we have self-belief we can beat any team, anywhere.

“And I think the team we have right now, the players are doing well in Europe. So, why can’t we qualify for the World Cup? I am optimistic,” the coach added.

The former Enyimba gaffer revealed that he is close to signing a contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

“I hope by next week I will seal my contract,” he told reporters in Abuja today.
