Speaking on the partnership, which was signed at a ceremony in Lagos, LMC chairman, Shehu Dikko, explained that the deal represents the league company’s unbundling strategy, adding that it will contribute immensely to the top division in the West African nation.

“Like we stated few months ago. Our plan has always remained to have several partners and sponsorship in different areas for the league. This is one of such partnership and sponsorship we have been talking about.

“We remain committed to getting partners who will work with us and take the league into the heart of Nigerians. We are positive that Star lager will contribute greatly towards helping us achieve this, and we are very excited with the partnership,” Dikko said.

Also commenting on the partnership during the event, the beer company’s portfolio manager, Tokunbo Adodo, expressed excited that Star is the first beer brand to enter into partnership with the NPFL.

We believe in this platform and our partnership is about moving the NPFL forward seeing that the gentlemen in the LMC have shown professionalism and adherence to global best practices,” Adodo remarked.

“Star is the first beer brand to ever sponsor the NPFL, and the partnership is worth every dime we are putting into it. The most important word is partnership. It is a win-win for Star and all the NPFL stakeholders,” he added.
