NPL: Enyimba Wins Record Breaking Seventh League Title

Enyimba FC of Aba on Sunday evening were crowned Glo Premier League Champions, after playing out a goalless draw against second placed Warri Wolves at the 40,000 capacity Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.

The two-time African Champions needed just a point in their final home game against their closest rivals, Wolves, and the Elephants did just enough to win their record seventh title.

Warri Wolves toiled hard to create clear cut chances in a game they needed to win.

However, the home side who boast the best away form of the season (five wins and seven draws) reached deep to hold the determined Wolves for the duration of the game.

Kadiri Ikhana’s men won the League with 69 points from 37 games, with one game remaining, six points above Warri Wolves who have 63 points, from the same number of games.

Enyimba last won the trophy five years ago.
