Okiemute Wins 9th Edition Of Project Fame

25-year-old Okiemute Ighorodje over the weekend emerged the winner of the ninth season of the MTN Project Fame West Africa.

The Linguistics & Communications graduate from University of Port Harcourt went home with a grand price of N5 million, a brand new SUV, and a music recording contract.

She came out top ahead of Elizabeth, who claimed N3 million naira prize and a saloon car. Kitay went home with 2 million naira and a saloon car, and Pere who came fourth and went home with 2 million naira.

Okiemute, emerged winner after the 8-week highly competitive contest as she performed Phyno’s “Fada Fada” at the closing gala.

She also performed an original song ‘Iya Mi’ which got everyone including the judges emotional.

The Delta-born singer is from a family of six, and the third of four girls. Okiemute credits her journey into music to one of her sisters, whom she said was always quick to put her at the fore front of any music-related activity.

Meanwhile, in a bid to gain more audience after an obvious drop in their fan base, Academy Principal, Mummy J announced on academy day 61 of #ProjectFame9.0, that all the previous runner-ups from season 1 to 9 will be given an opportunity to be crowned winner of season 10.
