Olori Wuraola Was Never Ife’s Choice, Ooni Bribed Priests To Marry Her – Palace Source

A palace source has claimed Olori Wuraola, estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, was never the chosen one, saying the revered Yoruba king tricked ‘201 gods’ to marry her.

Although the Ooni of Ife, in 2016, proclaimed that Olori Wuraola was indeed his chosen Queen, the palace source however claimed that Oba Ogunwusi may have “bribed” priests in Ile Ife to have his way.

Kemi Ashefon, who was one of those that first reported the crash in the Ooni of Ife’s marriage, quoted the palace source as saying Oba Ogunwusi “was warned by many not to marry” his estranged wife.

The palace source said it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the monarch’s 17 months old marriage crashed irretrievably.

“But he (Ooni) was warned by many not to marry Sonia. She was said to have been married to a Lebanese businessman who was resident in Dubai and had kids.

“He was adamant and must have allegedly bribed his way with some priests to have the name Wuraola chosen. Even if you bribe human beings, can you bribe the gods? It’s a sacrilege for any woman to walk out of the palace. It’s a slap on tradition. A slap on the throne,” said the palace source.

Meanwhile, Olori Wurala, who has since reverted to her maiden name (Zaynab Otiti Obanor), addressed her marriage crisis in an official statement on Wednesday.

“There is absolutely no truth to the media circulated lies of infidelity and infertility- on my end. What I can confirm, is that the Ooni and I are no more,” she said.
