Operation Python Dance: IPOB, Others Reject Free Military Medical Treatment

After the invasion of South East states by Nigerian soldiers, residents of Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, have turned down military’s free medical treatments in their communities.

While a few turned out for the free health care service, many, including members Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), rejected the offer in solidarity with IPOB members who allegedly suffered cruelty in the hands of soldiers of Operation Python Dance II in Umuahia, Abia State.

Mr. Emmanuel Nwangele, Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area of the state, said the low turnout was due to the invasion of the region by soldiers.

“People are afraid following what is happening in the society. They have never seen the Army carrying out such gesture (free treatment)” he said.

Daily Sun reports that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, had inaugurated the exercise at Nkwagu Primary School, in Abakaliki.

The programme was declared open by Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, who represented Governor David Umahi.
