Osun Poll: ‘Politicians Forcing Voters To Swear To ‘God Of Iron’ After Getting N2,000′

A government candidate in the ongoing Osun State gubernatorial election has alleged vote-buying by some politicians.
Mrs Mercy Ayodele, who is the governorship candidate of the Respiration Party of Nigeria, said although the election is so far peaceful, alleged vote-buying are being recorded in some polling units.
Mrs. Ayodele, however, acknowledged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was making efforts to curb the alleged inducement of the voters with money.

She alleged that voters at her polling in Obokun are being made to swear to Ogun “the god of iron” after getting N2, 000 to vote a certain party. She did not mention the political party involved in the act.

“Despite the effort to stop vote buying, they are still buying votes secretly here. They gave voters N2000 secretly and made them swear to an oath with iron,” said the governorship candidate.
